There is an active group which liaises with the practice. All patients registered with the surgery are deemed to be members of the PPG, although you may additionally opt to join the virtual PPG (see below).
Have you viewed the PPG BLOG yet?
The PPG Chair, Jennifer Skillen, has set up a PPG Romney House Surgery blog which will be updated regularly with news, giving lots of valuable information and links to other services and events. The monthly articles from the PPG continue to appear in The Tetbury Advertiser.
Formation of the PPG
Patient Participation Groups have been in place nationally since 1978 and we have had an active one in Tetbury for many years. They have been increasingly expected and encouraged at government level to be part of the change in NHS provision.
Purpose of the PPG
To promote co-operation and strengthen communication between the Practice, patients and the wider community for the benefit of all.
To promote good health to the highest standard possible through the medium of patient participation.
- The group is not a forum for individual complaints or medical issues. These must be addressed through the Practice Manager.
Profile of the PPG Group Members
All patients registered with the surgery are deemed to be members of the PPG. There is a steering committee with a maximum of 10 committee members which meets monthly. The group is affiliated to the National Association for Patient Participation (NAPP).An AGM is held annually and is open to all patients. Notice is given in the Tetbury Advertiser and on the PPG noticeboard in the Surgery waiting room.
Communicating with the Committee
In addition to the blog and monthly articles in the Tetbury Advertiser, information is also available to read in the waiting room in the file on the PPG table. The PPG committee can also be contacted via email: RomneyPPG@cyberbarn.org.uk. All future activity will be advertised within the surgery, online and, whenever appropriate, in the local press. Documents relating to meetings, activities and the patient survey will be available online or as hard copies from the practice. There is a suggestions box for patients in the waiting room and the practice undertakes to respond to issues as they are raised.
Join the Virtual PPG
Romney House Surgery has a Virtual Patient Participation Group (vPPG). Many people would like to know more about issues that affect the surgery, or would like to feed back information, but don’t want to attend committee meetings regularly. The vPPG is another way to get involved. By belonging you will help the practice to provide an accessible and responsive service. Occasional emails will be sent by the practice on behalf of the PPG committee, but you have to give the practice your permission.
To join the vPPG, send an email to the Deputy Practice Manager, Ceri Godwin at email@example.com and your details will be added to the vPPG database. No confidential contact details will be shared with the PPG.
If you would like the practice to occasionally email you on behalf of the PPG then you can also email the PPG directly via RomneyPPG@cyberbarn.org.uk.
